• Naturopathy, which is a holistic approach to wellness, has long been known as nature’s gift to whole health and harmony. Your concerns will be heard and considered, as I believe individuals know themselves best.

Naturopathy focuses on disease prevention, focusing on the underlying causes of a condition and applying treatments that work in alliance with the natural healing mechanisms of the body rather than against them.

Naturopathy uses non-invasive and natural treatments to tap into the body’s self-healing abilities. Physical symptoms are examined, as well as the influence of lifestyle factors and emotions on the person’s whole health. Nutrition from whole foods and superfoods can be used to strengthen and nourish the body.

Naturopathy can work in harmony with traditional western medicines. Naturopathic practitioners who work alongside pharmacists and GPs to safely integrate evidence-based natural medicine with western medicine. This whole health approach can put your mind at ease knowing that experts have created treatment plans tailored specifically to your health needs.

  • Naturopathy may assist with prevalent health conditions facing most people today, acute and chronic conditions. You may not have a health condition that you want to heal and maybe after overall health improvement or prevention.

  • The exact nature of treatment varies between clients. The client's preferences and lifestyle are taken into consideration before any recommendations are given. You may likely be given herbal medicines in a liquid and/or tablet form to take daily for at least a few weeks or longer if needed. I may also recommend supplements, and dietary and lifestyle interventions. Medical herbalists are holistic practitioners who follow the ancient principles of working with the cause of the illness wherever possible so, as well as herbs, there may be other areas that get attention within your appointment.

  • Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine based on the principle that like cures like. This means that a substance that causes particular symptoms in a healthy person can be used to treat a sick person suffering from those symptoms. Remedies are made by diluting substances (mainly of plant, mineral and animal origin). This process is called ‘potentising’ because practitioners believe the potency of the remedy increases the more it is diluted.

Naturopathic practitioners use herbal medicines, vitamins and minerals, homeopathy, aromatherapy, massage, and other natural products and therapies to help the body heal itself. Naturopaths are also concerned with diet and nutrition.

  • Some clients are unsure whether to share with their GP or specialist that they are seeking natural or complementary treatment. Rest assured, it is common to have a team of specialists supporting you and is not something to be ashamed about. I encourage you to keep them fully informed. Please let me know whether you would like to communicate with your doctor. I am also happy to communicate with them and I would prefer to keep them informed if possible.

  • I will email through some forms to read and complete. You can fill these in either on your computer or print them off to handwrite the sections. This can take roughly an hour or more to do. Once these forms have been returned (within 3 days of the appointment time), the consultation can go ahead.

  • All appointments require the completed paperwork to be returned within 3 days before the appointment time to allow for research to be undertaken before you arrive.

For online consultations - all that is required is a quiet and comfortable space for the consultation to take place, a fast and reliable internet connection, your supplements and medications you are taking (including medicated creams), and a notepad and pen.

In-person consultations - please bring your supplements, and prescribed and non-prescription medications including medicated creams.

  • Yes, absolutely!

I understand that sometimes people need support from family or friends, whether that be with language, mobility or something else.

Please let me know prior if you would like to bring someone with you to your appointment.

  • Yes. Generally, the clinic space has a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Therefore, if you would like to take some quiet time for yourself, it might be advisable to arrange for childcare during this time.

However, I do realise that this is not always possible. If you would like to/need to bring your children to the appointment, you are most welcome to. The clinic is a safe space that supports breastfeeding parents.

Please feel free to bring your own quiet activities for your child.

  • The at-home clinic space is located on the ground level with a door frame that is not flush with the floor. Unfortunately, the toilet facilities are up a steep ramp and would require assistance to get to by wheelchair.

Cambridge (Taylor Made Community Space) is wheelchair accessible.

Please let me know if this is a concern for you and I can try and make the necessary arrangements.

  • Health conditions and their severity can vary from person to person. I will be able to answer this question more accurately once I have a better understanding of your condition and a treatment plan that will work for you.

For example, a chronic condition that a client has had for years could be expected to take longer to improve compared to an acute condition.

  • It is very important to write down the exact names and dosages of any prescription medications you are taking when you visit your naturopath/medical herbalist. Many pharmaceuticals can interact with herbal medicines, and your practitioner is trained to know what is or isn’t safe to use in these instances.

  • Herbal medicines have a tremendous history of use going back thousands of years. In that time, practitioners have taken great care to learn what works and how to use it safely. This knowledge has been passed down and medical herbalists today have extensive training in how to use herbs both safely and effectively. Plants contain many powerful substances and will often have strong reactions within the person taking them. If you have any concerns about your treatment or questions about what you are experiencing, I encourage you to contact me.

  • Yes. Sometimes clients have complicated health concerns that require the support of other specialists. If I decide that you may need this support or find that your health condition is out of my scope of practice, I will refer you to the appropriate practitioners. I will discuss this with you in the consultation or follow-up appointment.

  • Yes. With thorough history taking and physical examination I can gather a lot of information. If after careful consideration I decide that you need to have some tests done, I will arrange these with our testing partners and either send the tests directly to your door or refer you to external partners. I will always discuss these with you before ordering and explain the costs, different options and procedures involved. It is a priority of mine to make sure that the test fits the individual and will never push something that isn't required.

  • Some of the common tests are faecal analysis, disease risk profiles, and hormone, vitamin and mineral profiles. The tests are sent to either Australia or the United States for analysis and typically take 4-6 weeks. If we are planning long-term treatment, then sometimes it is important to do specialised tests.

  • Yes. Either I will give these to you directly or have them sent to your home address.

  • At this time, services are only available for individuals residing in Aotearoa/New Zealand. This is due to the accounts we hold with testing services and herbal suppliers only shipping to NZ addresses. I apologise for any inconvenience and hope to extend my reach in the future.
